Right. So, tomorrow I'm going back to L.A. for the first time in about eight years.
It's a remarkable confluence of all my careers. First I'm conducting two concerts with a local orchestra, the Montage Civic Orchestra, in two cities. Second, I'm appearing at the world fantasy convention at least briefly. Third, I am "taking meetings" and all you Hollywood people know what that means. There's even a remote possibility that the 25-year-old dream of a film adaptation of Vampire Junction might finally happen.
The Third Act of Somtow's Life is entering the final chase scene. I don't know what will happen. Will film, music, or novel-writing win out, or will there be some bizarre conflation of the three?
I guess we will know soon.
Good luck! As a Canadian admirer of your music (who knows next to nothing about your novel-writing or film-making), I can't help but wonder what the "bizarre conflation of the three" might turn into: a Sci-Fi horror opera movie? One can only hope.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting! Good luck to you! :)
