In a week's time, our little subset of the Orpheus Choir which has been meeting at my house for the last 5 weeks will be doing a little concert of music of the Renaissance. Today's rehearsal was a revelation; Dufay and Byrd really spoke to our little ensemble for the first time; it was quite a moving experience. If you're reading this blog and are free Tuesday or Thursday, do show up. I'm not sure whether it's the first time in Thailand for ALL these pieces of music, but I'm almost certain that's true for nine out of ten. People will also be treated to the poetry of Ronsard, Opitz, Michelangelo, Petrarch, Shakespeare etc. all in their original tongues....Meanwhile, drawing up comprehensible blocking charts for Walküre is pretty wild....
